Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NYSE, the gained 0.68% to hit a new all time high, while the index added 0.59%, and the index climbed 0.66%.

The best performers of the session on the were Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 4.20% or 1.05 points to trade at 26.03 at the close. Meanwhile, Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:) added 2.53% or 7.24 points to end at 292.95 and Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:) was up 2.12% or 0.97 points to 46.66 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were International Business Machines (NYSE:), which fell 0.72% or 1.17 points to trade at 161.57 at the close. UnitedHealth Group Incorporated (NYSE:) declined 0.56% or 2.94 points to end at 523.61 and Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:) was down 0.32% or 0.19 points to 58.83.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Enphase Energy Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 9.10% to 135.32, Illumina Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 8.08% to settle at 139.53 and Catalent Inc (NYSE:) which gained 6.52% to close at 44.62.

The worst performers were FactSet Research Systems Inc (NYSE:) which was down 2.07% to 448.99 in late trade, Molina Healthcare Inc (NYSE:) which lost 1.95% to settle at 359.10 and EPAM Systems Inc (NYSE:) which was down 1.63% to 295.46 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Compugen Ltd (NASDAQ:) which rose 173.97% to 2.00, African Agriculture Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:) which was up 63.76% to settle at 0.77 and ProSomnus (NASDAQ:) which gained 57.65% to close at 0.99.

The worst performers were Cuentas Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 54.30% to 1.01 in late trade, micromobilitycom Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 50.55% to settle at 0.22 and BYND Cannasoft Enterprises Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 46.96% to 0.37 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2329 to 575 and 65 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2522 rose and 949 declined, while 98 ended unchanged.

EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.10, while USD/JPY rose 0.79% to 143.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 101.77.
