Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

At the close in NSE, the rose 0.43%, while the index gained 0.32%.

The best performers of the session on the were Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. (NS:), which rose 4.56% or 168.55 points to trade at 3,863.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:) added 3.35% or 131.75 points to end at 4,067.45 and NTPC Ltd (NS:) was up 2.25% or 6.80 points to 309.60 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Bajaj Finance Ltd (NS:), which fell 1.82% or 133.00 points to trade at 7,162.30 at the close. Bajaj Finserv Ltd (NS:) declined 1.60% or 26.75 points to end at 1,645.30 and Infosys Ltd (NS:) was down 1.21% or 18.95 points to 1,543.95.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:) which rose 2.44% to 310.15, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which was up 1.66% to settle at 1,662.00 and Wipro Ltd (BO:) which gained 1.59% to close at 470.05.

The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.81% to 7,162.95 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.42% to settle at 1,647.65 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.12% to 1,544.50 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 1233 to 884 and 53 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 2229 rose and 1526 declined, while 140 ended unchanged.

Shares in Hero MotoCorp Ltd (NS:) rose to all time highs; rising 3.35% or 131.75 to 4,067.45. Shares in NTPC Ltd (BO:) rose to all time highs; up 2.44% or 7.40 to 310.15. Shares in Wipro Ltd (BO:) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.59% or 7.35 to 470.05.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was up 7.08% to 14.68 a new 6-months high.

Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.21% or 4.35 to $2,073.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February fell 0.39% or 0.29 to hit $73.27 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract fell 0.25% or 0.20 to trade at $78.60 a barrel.

USD/INR was unchanged 0.00% to 83.18, while EUR/INR unchanged 0.00% to 91.67.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 101.35.

The worst performers were Bajaj Finance Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.81% to 7,162.95 in late trade, Bajaj Finserv Ltd (BO:) which lost 1.42% to settle at 1,647.65 and Infosys Ltd (BO:) which was down 1.12% to 1,544.50 at the close.
