Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the added 0.78%.
The best performers of the session on the were Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:), which rose 3.84% or 119.00 points to trade at 3,214.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:) added 3.93% or 37.50 points to end at 987.50 and Fujitsu Ltd. (TYO:) was up 3.50% or 83.50 points to 2,468.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sharp Corp (TYO:), which fell 3.18% or 27.10 points to trade at 823.30 at the close. DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:) declined 1.43% or 22.50 points to end at 1,556.50 and Advantest Corp. (TYO:) was down 1.22% or 74.00 points to 5,963.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2455 to 1179 and 238 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 9.93% to 21.48.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 1.56% or 1.36 to $85.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 1.60% or 1.46 to hit $89.71 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.44% or 10.25 to trade at $2,355.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.14% to 151.82, while EUR/JPY rose 0.11% to 164.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 104.14.
